A Salt Dome Built Into the Bank at Lydiate Ash
A dome with nowhere to spare
The National Highways depot at Lydiate Ash had a specific bit of ground for its new salt store: a groove already formed between an earth embankment and a reinforced retaining wall. The dome had to drop into that gap precisely, tie cleanly into the existing civil works, and do it without losing a metre of storage. The depot also wanted a separate white salt store built into the same facility for its high-grade de-icing salt.
A standard off-the-shelf building was never going to sit in that space. It needed to be designed around the site rather than the other way round.
Eurodome's solution
We handled the whole build as one coordinated job, setting the dome accurately into the prepared groove and working it in with the surrounding structures:
Constructed the specialist storage dome to fit the recessed section between embankment and retaining wall
Set it out accurately so it interfaced securely with the retaining wall
Built an integral white salt store into the overall structure
Coordinated the structural and civil elements so the fit was precise and the programme stayed efficient
Getting the dome to marry up with the embankment and the wall took careful setting out. Done properly, it turned an awkward, constrained plot into usable storage.

The depot got a robust bulk salt store that makes full use of a tight site, with a dedicated white salt compound built in and a clean interface with the existing groundworks. Nothing wasted, nothing bolted on afterwards.
