How much does a container canopy cost?

There is no single price for a container canopy, because every one is built around your containers and your site. The biggest factors are the span and length you need, whether you use your own containers or we supply them, and how much you enclose: an open-sided canopy costs less than one closed off with gable ends, doors and side sheets. Site access, ground conditions and the wind and snow loads we engineer it to all play a part too.
What we can say is that a container canopy gives you serious covered space for a fraction of the cost of a permanent building. There is no slab to pour and no lengthy build, and because it is relocatable it keeps earning its keep even if your site changes. We work to fixed-price costing, so once we understand your project you get one clear quotation with no surprises later.
Do I need planning permission for a container canopy?

In most cases a container canopy does not need planning permission, but it depends on your site. A canopy is usually treated as a temporary or relocatable structure rather than a permanent building, and it often falls under permitted development, especially on established commercial and industrial sites. Whether permission is needed comes down to the size of the canopy, how close it sits to a boundary, how long it will stay in place and your local planning authority's own rules.
Building regulations can still apply even where planning permission does not, so it is worth checking both before you commit. That is where we come in. We advise you on where you stand at the design stage, and if an application is needed we prepare and submit the drawings and supporting documents for you and manage the process through to approval, so there are no hold-ups once you are ready to build.
How long does installation take?

Once your canopy is designed and manufactured, installation is usually a matter of days rather than weeks. Because the canopy mounts straight onto your shipping containers, there are no foundations to dig and no slab to cure, which is what makes it so much faster than a permanent build. Much of the structure is prepared off site, so our crew can assemble the frame and tension the cover quickly once they arrive.
The exact time depends on the size of the canopy and how much you are enclosing with ends, doors and side sheets, but even larger canopies go up fast and cause very little disruption to a working yard. We give you a clear timescale for your canopy with your quotation, so you can plan around it.
What spans are available?

A container canopy spans the gap between two rows of your shipping containers, giving you a wide, column-free space underneath with no internal supports to work around. It mounts onto standard 20ft or 40ft containers, in either standard or high-cube height, and the height of your containers sets the clearance beneath the cover.
Clear spans of up to around 20m are typical, which is enough to shelter vehicles, plant, stock or a full working bay in a single open area. Length is effectively unlimited: because the canopy is modular, you add bays to make it as long as you need, and extend it later if your operation grows. Every canopy is sized and engineered to your containers, your site and the wind and snow loads of your location, so the final dimensions are confirmed as part of the design.
Can a container canopy be relocated?

Yes. A container canopy is designed to be relocatable, which is one of its biggest advantages over a permanent building. Because it mounts onto your containers rather than fixed foundations, it can be taken down and moved to another site if your operation changes, or reconfigured where it stands.
The same modular design means you can extend a canopy by adding bays as you grow, rather than starting again with a bigger structure. If you do need to move or re-tension a canopy, our own crews can handle it, so it goes back up correctly and stays weathertight. It is a genuinely flexible way to add covered space, whether you need it for a single season or for years in one place.
